 Artist Statement

Photography has been a medium I've
worked with for many years. In 1999, I
participated in a workshop offered by
the Polaroid company and began
working with the SX-70 Time Zero film.
This medium allows me to create
dream-like images that capture small
moments and scenes that tend to linger
in your mind. Once the shutter button is
pressed I'm committed to the process.
Each image begins as a photograph
and is carefully worked by hand with
tools to manipulate the developing
emulsion. The process captures the
feeling of the scene rather than the
light and shadow associated with
traditional photography.

During the last couple of years, I have
included other creative photographic
processes in my work. I have been
collecting older Polaroid cameras and
using Polaroid film to create images
applying the process of image transfer
and emulsion lift.
